ORLANDO, FLORIDA – One day after taking home two national titles at the 2024 U.S. Paralympics Swimming National Championships presented by Toyota, three-time Paralympic medalist Olivia Chambers (Little Rock, Arkansas) continued her golden year with two more wins on the second day in record fashion. Chambers broke a world record in the women’s 1500-meter freestyle S13 with a time of 17:48.60 in the morning’s preliminary session along with a world record 800m split time of 9:29.21.

“I was definitely not expecting the records today,” said Chambers. “I came here just to see everyone and have some fun. It was a surprise but exciting as always, and I’m just super thankful for everyone around.”

“This is definitely the cherry on top. My ultimate goal for the year was just to get to Paris. To come away with a gold and two silvers was really a shock to me then finishing off the year with the record is really a testament to all the work that I’ve put in not just this past year, but since I started the sport.”

Four-time Paralympic champion McKenzie Coan (Clarkesville, Georgia) and Paralympic bronze medalist Jamal Hill (Inglewood, California) took to the water for the first time at the event securing bronze and silver medal podium appearances in the women’s and men’s 50m freestyle S1-13 respectively. Paralympian Grace Nuhfer (Indianapolis, Indiana) added a win in the women's 200m butterfly S13 while breaking the Americas record.

Fresh faces to the national scene, Katie Kubiak and Koehn Boyd continued to shine as they added two additional gold medal finishes each to their 2024 nationals collection. Additionally, Kubiak broke American records in the women's 50m backstroke S4 and women's 50m freestyle S4.

The final day of competition will resume on Sunday, Dec. 15 with preliminary sessions starting at 9 a.m. ET and finals starting at 5:30 p.m. ET. All races are mixed class, and results based on the World Para Swimming points system to create an equitable field of play among the different classes. The evening finals are being streamed live on the U.S. Paralympics Swimming website and Facebook page. For full timed results, click here.
